The Corporate Growth Conference 2023 Takeaways.

November 20, 20232 min read

If you manage a small waste company or a junk removal and you didn't have the opportunity to participate last week at the largest waste management conference in the US, here I'll share what you missed.

Sustainability.

It is the driver for waste management companies. As I shared multiple times here in articles and posts, the business model of small waste companies is facing a radical change. A change entirely based on sustainability. Indeed, even if small companies are not interested in a "sustainable" collection, for small waste companies, it is essential to use sustainability to manage the waste collected and sell secondary raw materials.

EBITDA, CashFlow, Fleet Age

They are the most important factors that M&A companies, investors, and big companies consider during a purchasing process. I've shared a few times how important the cash flow is and how it should be managed by creating long-term agreements selling secondary raw materials. Fleet Age is a subsequent fact. Studies show that fleets with more than 8 years old are 10 times more expensive than young fleets.

Regulations.

They are changing a lot and faster than five years ago. They are changing following the ESG program and the sustainable directions. It means that if you start to adapt your business model to new regulations, probably you'll be obsolete in a year. On the contrary, if you start to follow the ESG and the sustainability processes shared in the market following the request of the big companies (involved in EPR processes) and adapt them to small companies, you'll thrive.

In conclusion, the corporate highlighted what we are sharing in this blog since its first article. In the meantime, personally, I started to share the importance of these aspects since 2010, when I'm entered in the field of waste management for the first time.

Only starting to apply this processes you'll be able to move your small waste company to the future.
